Menopause Yoga Practices

If you're looking for menopause yoga and breathing practices for hot flushes, rage, strength, anxiety, joint aches and inflammation, etc., feel free to contact me directly. I'm certified through Petra Coveney's Menopause Yoga™ teacher training, and I only recommend what I personally practice and have experienced, so I can speak from real experience rather than passing along general advice.

On Tinnitus

Tinnitus is real and can be genuinely overwhelming. I'd never take it lightly. My first suggestion would always be to see a specialist. That said, there does seem to be a hormonal link: during menopause, dropping estrogen affects the inner ear and blood flow, and up to 30% of women notice new or worsening tinnitus during this time - so this isn't "just in her head."

From my own experience, a few things that helped: breathing practices and stress management (Bhramari breath, which we practiced in the workshop), acupuncture, and seeing an osteopath or physiotherapist.

Gentle yoga to open the chest and upper back can help too. It might also be worth keeping a diary, noting when it's present and when it eases, to spot patterns.

There's a lot to explore, and I hope some of this helps, even a little.

On Supplements

Pueraria Mirifica: I wasn't familiar with this one, so I've shared it in my Menopause teacher group and asked a colleague and friend who is a menopause nurse. In general, if it acts like estrogen in the body, it's worth discussing with a doctor before starting. Hopefully more on this soon.

Other recommendations: Agnus Castus (I am taking it, not all the time), and Menoelle (recommended by my menopause nurse friend; I haven't tried it).

As always: supplements are worth discussing with a doctor before starting.

--> One of you mentioned "the Daily Toolkit Form" in your feedback; I'd love to make sure I get this right for the resource page. Could you send me a quick reply so I understand exactly what you meant?

If there's anything else, please feel free to contact me directly: hello@jennyschoenmann.com

Yoga Movement

Why this matters for menopause: dropping estrogen affects joints and muscles, and stress hormones climb more easily. Short movement breaks ease stiffness, lower stress, and help you refocus.

1) A quick reset is to gently shake the body while standing.

2) Inhale: Shoulders roll up toward the ears.  Exhale: Roll the shoulders back and down.

3) Gently twist to one side. Stay for

a few breaths and keep the spine long.

Other side.

5) Feet on the ground, hip-width apart.

Gently fold forward for a couple of breaths.
